Artsy-fartsy improvements

Three of my works from the drawing course, made this month.

Except this chair, that’s from February. I just like how the little head is emerging from the chair. Positively disturbing. In charcoal and white chalk.

This napping fellow below was my lesson in perspective. It’s actually made from a reproduction of some master’s drawing. A friend mentioned it is Lucian Freud’s.

The nude is done in charcoal, while watching the reproduction carefully. The background pillow and sheets I let my mind made up, and used pink pastel.

And last week, I finally got to work with pastels. Again I had a task to reproduce a master, and I chose Van Gogh’s Cafe Terrace at Night .

I just adore this painting’s contrasting colors working so perfectly to give you the night’s atmosphere.

See what I did with the purple doors’ perspective, on the left? I messed it up nicely while admiring the colors.

But, I must admit I am overall satisfied with the painting because it made me so insanely delighted to draw it.

All the drawings in this post were taken with iPhone – no big ass previews in new tab, but hey, at least we finally have color!
